Mentor Connection

Mentor Connection is an advanced learning experience for students who seek an academic challenge and are ready to explore their goals for the future. This program targets highly motivated public high school students who wish to cultivate their interest in the health professions and encourages them to serve their own communities. Students are matched with mentors committed to serving disadvantaged communities through the health field.

Mentor Connection operates between September and June, and students spend approximately eight hours per week on the program. The students' time is divided between:

  • working under the guidance of their mentors, and
  • attending weekly seminars with their peers to explore possible careers and develop new skill sets that will allow them to succeed in college and beyond.

Mentor Connection is currently at Washington Irving High School in Manhattan. MSI AHEC hopes to expand the program to other high schools in future years.

If you are interested in bringing the Mentor Connection program to your school or would like to be a mentor, please contact the Program Coordinator at (212) 534-2432 for more information.
