Urban Health Conference Essay Contest
A one-time cash award/scholarship of $2,000 is being offered to three authors of the best Essays. (See choice of titles below.)
This Essay Contest provides an opportunity to showcase the extraordinary talent of students who live or go to school in the communities served by the Generations+/Northern Manhattan Health Network- Harlem Hospital Center and Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center.
To be eligible, you must be a college-bound, graduating high school senior, residing or attending school in the Downtown Bronx, East Harlem, West Harlem or Central Harlem communities. Three awards will be made to assist students with college related expenses.
DEADLINE: May 14, 2010
Qualifying Criteria:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a New York City Public High School; will graduate with the 2010 graduating class; and is in receipt of a college/university acceptance letter for September 2010 enrollment.
Candidates must submit a copy of the official college/university acceptance letter, validated by their high school guidance counselor or administrative office.
Candidates must submit proof of residence.
Candidates are asked to write an essay between 500 -1000 words. The essay should be typed, double spaced and entitled (choose one topic only):
"Why should the issue of health care be important to New York City residents?" "Why is your community's health important to you?" or "How would you improve the health of New Yorkers?"
